Company history In 1870, Mr. Arthur Meißner founded a company for the manufacture of high-precision instruments in Freiberg, which was at that time renowned for the Bergakademie and the Gerberschule. The Meißner company developed and produced measuring instruments for teaching and research for these scientific institutions. In this way, the measuring instruments manufactured in Freiberg became known and valued throughout the world. The company history of the oldest German tripod factory unfolded in a similar manner. The partners of this company selected Mr. Frank Wolf for the succession plan in 1971 and, despite the subsequent nationalisation, Mr. Wolf was able to assume sole management of the company in 1974. In 1984 both companies merged to become Foto- und Feinmesstechnik, creating a medium-sized company, which also survived the period of national dictatorship in operational autonomy with its own manufacturer's profile. Foto- und Feinmesstechnik GmbH was able to expand its sales worldwide. In 1993, Mr. Frank Wolf purchased substantial parts of the long-established Freiberg company. The product range was expanded, and Wolf-Messtechnik GmbH was founded. Today, we manufacture the following product groups in our modern production facilities in Freiberg's southern industrial area: - Precision thickness gauges - Materials testing machines - Wooden tripods - Precision-mechanical components You can find a detailed list of our product range here.
